There is a growing trend across Europe for university students to combine their classes with a European foreign languages. Among the most popular choices are Spanish, German and Italian. Erasmus Representative Anthony Smallwood said: "The increase in the number of students wishing to study at the language is evident in the increase of Erasmus and Lingua currently in demand. "In 1990-1991 Lingua first year of operation in 1867" network of students have received scholarships to students Lingua mobility. It is now 8847. A similar number of students received a grant for Erasmus.
"More universities offer courses in modern European languages as a child," said Smallwood. The upward trend is due in part to students appreciate the importance of trade and the growing need to communicate in a number of different languages.
Johanna Wilson, a Scottish professor of English living in France began to study German so she could take part in a German exchange. "I stayed with a German family and worked as a" room "in a German hotel. I wanted to communicate with people in German. I caught the bug of the importance of trade to break down barriers. I ended up studying German for four years older, a year and a half through Erasmus in Germany and two and a half years at the University of Aberdeen, in conjunction with my degree in modern history.
